Settlers of Catan Cake

An absolutely enormous cake I made for a gathering of friends to celebrate all of our birthdays. Before its decimation and consumption (we like to call it the Cataclysm), it was 24 by 18 inches. Many good ships, cities, settlements, and sheep were lost in the resulting massacre. May they rest in peace in our stomachs. All cake, frosting, and fondant was made from scratch (although the marshmallows used to make the fondant were obviously bought).

Cake: Homemade German Chocolate with coconut/pecan/butter frosting in the center.
Ocean: Vanilla/Coconut Buttercream
Hex Tiles/Dice/Ships, etc.: Marshmallow Fondant
Details (forests, mountains, etc.): Vanilla Buttercream

Colors were all mixed with AmeriColor food gels.

First cake I've ever made or decorated, so I'd say it's a success. A moist and delicious success. Still eating it, too.
